GSpot is this spyware

hi just run the latest secunia secunia software inspector to make sure all my pc was upto date once the scan was finished i clicked on the patched tab and noticed a patched application called "GSpot 2.x" so i clicked start>search>all files folders ..and noticed is bundled in with k-lite codec pack is this spyware.......

mattytun , it's not spyware and yes , it does come along with the k-lite codec pack. It's basically a small tool that can list what codecs are installed on your pc ,and , if you were to find a certain file that won't play on your pc , you can use the prog to determine what codec is missing and needs installed in order to play it.

Don't know what version you have but mines at 2.07.

Might add , i haven't used it but now you've highlighted it i'm going to play about with it.

hi fifeflyer thanks for that i was sort of thinking it must be safe or my spyware progs would have picked it up plus the name "GSpot" and the little icon is a female .........so thought better ask i just use the k-lite codec pack media player classic sometimes but i looked on gspot and its same version as you ..cheers

The latest version is 2.70a which can be downloaded from here.

It's come in handy a couple of times.
