Mcafee Firewall
      #380366 - Fri Jan 18 2008 01:26 PM

I am in the process of migrating from AOL to Sky broadband. Originally AOL came with a Mcafee fire wall which I have been happy with. The Sky package also comes with a Mcafee firewall which you can choose to install or not. My question is, should I ignore the version I get with Sky and continue with my original version, can I continue with my original version as it came with AOL and now im leaving will it still work, or should I completely uninstall the old version and install the new version that comes with the sky package.

Your correct, its Mcafee Internet Security Suite.

So I will not be taking Sky up on their offer of free security programs as I have my own and the offer is only for 12 months after which you have to pay!

Presumably after ditching AOL the Mcafee firewall will still be working, its not tied into AOL or anytrhing?

.

I'm not 100% sure , but i would think the license would end on the date you leave AOL and they may/will , disable the software .
As it is , the free third party firewalls on offer , give adequate protection ,so if i were in your shoes i would remove any doubt by removing Mcafee and installing a freebie. ( i presume the rest of your security apps , Antispyware etc , are already free options ).
