I came across these Via Michelin maps covering detailed road maps of the whole of Europe including the new EU member states. This site could be very useful for all European drivers, especially long distance lorry drivers heading abroad!
Zooming in and out is very easy and has a bar that goes from street level all the way to continent level - good for a clear perspective.
You can also plan routes from A to B and see mini maps for each part of the journey.
But the best feature of all is that the roads have house numbers on them to help you locate which end of the street you need to head for.
I would say this beats the competition which is:
Map24 Multimap Streetmap MSN Maps AA Route Planner RAC Route Planner
Maybe Webuser could expand on this post and produce one of their excellent reviews of the mapping sites. I'd be interested to see if they agreed with my Gold Award for ViaMichelin Maps.

I'd have to agree with you Chris.....I used the Michelin site when a relative wanted the journey to a place in the Algarve and he said it was spot on......That's all you need really, good information.

Glad to hear someone else likes them. I tried a random search of Budapest and found that the maps only zoom in there to a certain level.
So I tried a google search of road map Budapest and found this map site containing many major city maps from around the world. (Site written in German, but you can choose English for place names on the map). The controls are a bit vague - you have to click the little directions N, S , E, and W on the compass to move round the map or move the red square round the map.
The big problem with this site is the absurdly small font, which I found no way of enlarging, so pinpointing a particular road is tough.
These are the cities covered, many in high detail (quite a few from Germany):
Aachen Alfeld Amberg Amsterdam Anuradhapura Atlanta Auckland Bad Homburg Bad Oeynhausen Bagdad Bangkok Barcelona Bergisch Gladbach Biberach an der Riss Bielefeld Bochum Bonn Braunschweig Bremerhaven Brisbane Brügge Brüssel Budapest Bünde Cham Chicago Christchurch Colombo Cordoba Cottbus Cuxhaven Dannenberg Deutschland physisch Dresden Düsseldorf Duisburg Edinburgh Enger Erfurt Essen Flensburg Frankenthal Frankfurt, Main Frechen Freiburg Fürth Gelsenkirchen Göttingen Granada Gütersloh Hagen Halle Hamburg Hannover Helgoland Herford Hilden Hildesheim Höxter Hongkong Ingolstadt Irak Iraklion Johannesburg Kaiserslautern Kandy Kapstadt Kelheim Kiel Köln Köln Marathon Kopenhagen Krakau Krefeld Las Vegas Leipzig Lissabon Löhne London Ludwigshafen Lübbecke Lübeck Lüchow Lüneburg Madrid Magdeburg Malaga Mannheim Melbourne Miami Mönchengladbach Mühlheim, Main Mülheim, Ruhr München Münster Neu-Ulm Neumarkt Neuss New York New York Manhattan Nordhorn Nürnberg Oberhausen Offenbach, Main Oldenburg Otterndorf Paderborn Palma de Mallorca Paris Perth Pisa Prague Regensburg Remscheid Rom Rostock San Francisco Santiago Sarstedt Schwandorf Schwerin Sevilla Singapur Soltau Spenge Stuttgart Sylt Tuttlingen Uelzen Ulm Walsrode Warburg Washington Wellington Welt physisch Wien Wismar Würzburg

I've just got the ViaMichelin/HP iPaq bundle. V happy with UK performance so far BUT ViaMichelin do not do USA/Canada maps. I had a Medion PDA with SatNav that worked brilliantly in the USA on holiday but unfortunately the pda died and had to be replaced. Does anyone know if there are any other manufacturer's GPS maps of the USA that will work on the ViaMichelin/Kirrios kit?
