I see that is listed in my Control Panel, but can't find where to set it. I have certain forums here I always visit, while others are of no interest/cannot assist, so I avoid them. I'd like my regular ones in that box, and hopefully they also appear at the top of my board view?

Simple - when you're in one of your favourite forums scroll to the bottom of the list of posts page and click on the Favourite Board link. This will add the forum to your favourites list.

Your chosen avatar must be hosted elsewhere on the Internet, it's the URL to that image that you put in the relevant box in your user options. TFC Nothing is a problem for me...
