Firefox 3.5 is designed to be twice as fast as Firefox 3,
if Firefox is taking a long time to start up follow the instructions here: https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Firefox+takes+a+long+time+to+start+up

Hi Leo and welcome to the WU forums.

Thanks for the useful link; it just goes to show that it's best to keep programs up to date and use the latest version!
Personally, I've found Firefox 3.5 to be quicker than previous versions and I like it a lot.
