Only comments I have on the New layout , Are: The Reply box area has a lot of white space doing Nothing and looks squashed! Can you Pull it "out" to the Right slightly or centre the Box ?(can insert a box of almost the same size easiliy in the gap) Also.,the "Instant Mark-up" links and adjacent "Font color" Links will benefit by widening the area by say at least 6 characters. The Smileys are spaced OK But the Other links need better "spacing" please

The forums don`t render properly in Firefox 3.5.2. Not mine anyway. So I used the IE Tab Sites Filter to use the forum and it rendered OK but I could not log in.
I can log in if I actually use IE though, but as FF is my favorite browser I would rather not keep having to open up IE just to visit here.
So I am back to using FF again.
Any ideas why this should happen?

Have you read through the thread? Particularly Claire's second post (#5).
RE login issues;there was a problem earlier today but that has now been fixed.

Unfortunately I'm getting regular server errors and server unavailable and moving around the forum is not a pleasant experience. My problems have been happening for a few weeks now and hoped the new forum would perhaps correct the slowness.
Sorry to harp on about the speed of the forum, but for me, it's not working very well and I don't bother so much as it's too much hard work.
I always look in and post if I feel I can help someone but a single posting takes a very long time to happen on occasion.

Whatever the fix that was applied today seems to have made a dramatic difference. For the last few days access to the forum has been erratic but now it's back to it's old ways. Tell the bloke who fixed it not to change anything else!

Sorry, I thought I was on the default setting. Changed it back and it seems fine now. Thanks for the help.

No worries, I had the same problem - spent years on a certain theme and took it to be the default.

I'm using Firefox 3.5.2 and one thing I've noticed is that, although the forums display normally, the rest of the site doesn't unless I either use IE Tab or disable Adblock Plus. The site is allowed on NoScript.

I am still getting a few niggles but for the most part it seems OK.
What I am most disappointed with is the fact that the developers never took the opportunity to add a `New Posts' or `Your Posts' button on the main page. Every forum I have visited has them so there is really no excuse as far as I am concerned. I know you can see your posts by going to your profile but this should not be necessary. This has been mentioned a few times before. Don`t the devs listen to what the users have to say?

The forum application itself hasn't been touched - nothing added, nothing taken away - that wasn't the remit on this occasion. It was merely formatted to compliment the new site. The issues & glitches we are experiencing tend to stem from that, and are being monitored.
However, there is still a means to see all new posts in the last 24/48 hours/7 days at the bottom on the main page, plus the 'Active Topics' link at the top.

I think we do get listened to, but we can't get everything changed immediately. I don't much like the way quotes are displayed now. They're too big and dominate the posts, but I'll probably get used to it eventually!
It seems to me that some major changes have gone on with the site in general and there are bound to be a few 'teething' problems.

We ask people not to type using capitals as it's considered to be the equivalent of shouting. The current size of quotes is the visual equivalent of bellowing!

A perfect description Madeline. First time I saw "quotes" startled me so much I sat to attention.

While I like the enlarged "Quotes" and it will help people with poor eyesight (Like me) Perhaps a Compromise....
The installation of a Tick box (In User Options?) to View the text at the old size of 1 to 1 And Keep the New Font. Or B) Keep the Text Font style of the Quote (As in some Email Formats) Keeping the Font size too ...Only Probs "small Sized fonts" and Oversized text! Usually its the Former that Crops up most . The Majoriity are obout the same sized font as the Forum size anyway

It would be much better to have the quote the same size as the post, but I think the different style of font is a good idea.

Just a quick update - all your queries and comments such as Quotes being very very large and the way the posts are being displayed and so on have been noted and passed on for investigation.
