My friend set up my PC and has set it so once I switch on it automatically dials up the internet - this is a problem as I will be trying to do some Word processing or whatever and the internet starts up
Can anyone help me correct this so it dials up only when I dial up

Click START then CONTROL PANEL, then INTERNET OPTIONS, a screen will pop up you need to then click the CONNECTIONS tab, there you will be able to control what you want your modem to do!

Sorry I am not sure what to do when I get to this Connections page - if I only want to dial up when I double click my server/Internet Exporer what do I need to select?

The only thing to have a dot in front of it should be "Never Dial a Connection".
