I haver just set up a Affiliation link with Amazon on my site (http://www.jimwebf1.co.uk) (with thanks to web-user issue 65) My site has not yet been cleared by Amazon but this should happen in a few days time. I also set up the Linkswap banner exchange network link as well.
Does anybody know of any other schemes that I could use on my site, I found the Amazon service to be great offering me loads of different links sizes and types. I have set up a specific Amazon page with all of their favorite items (http://www.jimwebf1.co.uk/amazon) and also a F1 related page of items.
Once again the trusty webuser gives me more ideas, keep them coming, they are of great use

This is from Amazon;
"Amazon.co.uk Associates earn up to 15% of the sale price on individually linked books that you feature on your site and 5% on anything else that is purchased through your links, including CDs, videos, DVDs, electronic items, software items, kitchen and home items, video games and toys."

Amazon are quite good. My site has made £3.80 just for getting 4 sales this last week. It's not great, but it all goes towards the prizes for the competitions.

I have had Amazon links on my site for a year, never earnt a penny! The trouble is that you only get the commision if they buy directly from your link. Most people will see the ad for something they fancy and click it. Then they will put it in their favourites folder and return to it when they have time to study it properly, thus you dont get a bean. Very few people buy on impulse from a website unless they went to that site specifically to buy, they wait and look at it later.

My community members know that if they go through the links they will help the site. They always go through the links. I find the more you you make members feel the site belongs to them the more willing they are to make the effort.

Whizwrinkly: I was just having a look at your site and I think the problem with your Amazon links is that they're totally unrelated to the content of your site. Who is going to go to a website about the history of London and then purchase a portable CD player? It's too great a leap. However, if you were to provide links to good books that you've read about London, you may find visitors to your site clicking on them. Offer reviews of books along with the links and you might see even more movement.
