Saving Flash Games
      #92355 - Mon Jul 26 2004 10:53 AM

Hello, I have read somewhere that it may be possible that you can save any or most games that you play online to your hard disk (ie available to play without being online). Most games use flash nowadays and I was told that you can enter the temp internet files folder and save these files to another folder and then play them. I have tried this but I get no joy ( I tend to try and open the files with IE6 but am presented with a screen of unintelligable text)
Does anybody know if it is possible to access these games offline ?

Thanks in advance

Yes you can play these games off-line (most of them at least as some may link to other files on the website to operate).

Find the .swf files in your temporary internet files folder and copy to a new location. Double clicking on it should play it for you.

You might want to take a look at this Flash Saving Plugin for IE & clones.

As mentioned, not all .SWF files are free-standing, some rely on components elswhere on the server.

Well, I've just downloaded that to my Downloads folder, TFC. Do you use it? If so, are there any problems with it?

I've saved flash thingies to a floppy as well. It's amazing how much flash stuff you can fit on a floppy!

I have used it on occasion, no problems thus far.

I'll give it a go, then.

If you use perfect Mozilla Firefox instead of Internet Explorer then it's hard to find flash files... But you can use tools like "Flash Movie Extract Scout" (from http://www.bytescout.com/) to save flash from Mozilla Firefox.

Cheers,
