Open Favourites then right-click on it and choose 'Sort by Name'.

I'm not sure what you're getting at here. I've got all my Favorites folders on IE in alphabetical order and the contents are too. I just drag and drop the contents (which are lists of web addresses) to where I want them to be. Madeline. To err is human; to really foul things up you need a computer.
Ignore the "Gold Star" icon. This is a shortcut to the favorites folder, but you need to go to the Toolbar | Favorites then right click any entry you have in there and click Sort by name This will arrange your favorites in alphabetical order.
