The community members at my site are asking me to start an area where they can swap or sell their surplus art related books and materials.
I want to find out about the disclaimers I want to put in place to protect myself and the members. Can anyone suggest some sites that I can visit to get an idea for the wording of such disclaimers. I want to make sure I don't leave anything out. It doesn't matter if the sites are specifically about disclaimers or just sites that are using them.

I suggest that you have a look at ebay's disclaimers as I would imagine that they are probably about the best you will find. Somehow I can't see their lawyers allowing ebay getting tangled up a in an expensive lawsuit Of all the Things I've lost, I miss my mind the most
Ebay was my first port of call. I just wondered about other sites that deal with swapping may have slightly different wording. I think I have covered myself, but just wanted to be sure.
Don't know what disclaimers do on a legal level, whether you can in fact disown any post, item or offer of sale that you host on your site.
I guess the main thrust would be to advise your users to tread with caution when it comes to any purchase/exchange, and two words will convey that for you - caveat emptor!
You could give Noel Edmunds a shout and see how they covered this on the Multi-Coloured SwapShop
I used to love that programme. That Maggie was a bit of alright. My favourite kids show was Tiswas. The phantom flan flinger was great.
As for the disclaimer I've had a root around ebay and concocted something along the same lines. It's made clear that the site is only a means for the members to contact each other with a view to selling/buying, swapping and any transaction is solely between them. I've also stated that by using the site like this they agree that in the event of a dispute they will not hold the site in any way whatsoever responsible.
