How does one stop this weird icon appearing at the right hand side of the screen when opening aol. It's the one about e-mail.

That is your companion, very annoying I know. Click on the X, click the checkbox next to autolaunch AOl companion, then click yes. Hopefully should get rid of it.

Sorry, don't get it. If I click the "X" in the top r/h corner of the Icon (companion) it goes. Fine. But it re-appears next time. I never want to see it again.
Where do I find "Autolaunch" to do the necessary?

When you click the X to get rid of it, a pop up appears asking are you sure etc. In that pop up you find that the Autolaunch selection is checked, uncheck that then click yes.

Hi Anonymous, The aol companion has a little box at the bottom for you to prevent it opening again, I think if you press the X you get a message saying something like..do you want to let aol companion open next time? or do you want to close aol companion permanantly you tick to say permanantly and it won't annoy you again.
On the same topic of annoying pop up things, if you have Yahoo or MSN messenger everytime you open the messenger you get yahoo insider and msn today boxes pop up, you close both of these follow the descriptions below.
MSN messenger. select tools in buddy box then select options then select General in the top part of the screen that appears the sign in part 4th sentence down untick it and it stops the window popping up everytime you open the messenger.
Yahoo, select login then preferences and near the bottom it says stop yahoo insider opening everytime I open yahoo.. this should make life easy.
