Kazaa Lite update and essential info
      #7822 - Wed Aug 27 2003 05:05 PM

in another topic on the forums about kazaa i mentioned that a lot of files have screeching noises after 10 seconds of music on a lot of songs

if you use kazaa lite (kazaa lite k++) go to their website and read the second news post about the blocked ip ranges and download and upload to the file it says

also the first news post is about the new version which also a reccomended update if u use it

official website : http://www.kazaalitekpp.com/

hope this has been of use 2 u

I have Kazaa 2.1.1 but I didn't realise that this version has spyware until I read it on this forum somewhere...
Will it be easy to un-install it and get Kazaa Lite? If so, does anyone know where to get the best/latest version of it?

I am now off to have a look at the official website as posted by Karl

i highly reccomend u uninstall kazaa and get kazaa lite !

i was in the same situation as u and found Kazaa media desktop very easy to install and get off my system
as it does install spyware
run a remover

such as ad ware (download at http://www.lavasoftusa.com/ )
or spybot (download at http://spybot.eon.net.au/ )

(an extenisve review on spyware removal projects is in web user issue 52 pages 28-40

then once removed and spyware removed
feel free to install kazaa lite from the offiial site in my orginal post above (now kazaa lite k++ after mergin wit k++ ) and enjoy spyware free downloadin :)

Use this little program called Kazaabegone, it gets rid of the bits regularly left behind, written by the same person who wrote Hijackthis

A techo from my PC supplier came to fix my lost sound today (couldn't but that's another story, my driver CD wouldn't work "another ones in the post"). In course of discussions (mostly one way) he looked at what pirograms I was running and informed me that KazaaLite is "full of spyware" as well as Kazaa. Is this true? I've not really started using it yet. Ihave Spybot and use that regularly.

I would like to know his sources

Hi puta,

Thanks very much for the link, it worked a treat although I was a little alarmed at just how quickly it got rid of my Kazaa!!

Karl, I have just installed Kazaa lite with no problems so all is good

I will spread the word to a couple of my friends who have the normal Kazaa, and tell them to follow your advice

Thanks again

I found this comment from one of the developers at KaZaa quite interesting....

Can you clarify the debate about whether KaZaA contains spyware?
It's almost an urban myth now! Really we have no spyware in the KMD - one of our struggles is that there's a whole industry out there that makes its business from mythologising spyware and creating software to remove it. If you were a fly on the wall in the Sharman office you would hear passionate arguments about users' privacy, and we have rigorous privacy testing procedures for any software that goes into KaZaA.

I upgraded, and the screeching still seems to happen for me, I've tried downloading Limp Bizkits new song, and everyone of them I've downloaded have screeched, it sucks :(

Let us know if anything else gets released about this.

Aren't Limp Bizkit songs meant to screech?

I agree totally.

I updated and the songs I was struggling with are now fine.

Limp BizKits sounds like Freeserve's latest excuse for their Help(less) Line! No offence. When I get my sound restored I might try listening to them but probably too much for a "silver surfer" like me! lol (Hey, I'm getting into Net Lingo) Cool!

Yeah I upgraded to the new version, then changed the blockedIP list thing. Should I have done it the other way around? lol. It's not such a big deal, I can keep trying to get a not screeching one constantly till I get the git!

Until then I'll stick to my Slipknot, Metallica and Evanescence

I've been having troubles with some songs, chili's among others.

P.S i'd rather listen to the screech and rub onion juice in my eyes than listen to slipknot
