Problems staying connected with Tiscali
      #78206 - Sun Jun 13 2004 05:56 PM

Hi
I wonder if anyone can help...
Fairly recently, I upgraded from dial up to broadband and chose to go with tiscali.
In the last 7-10 days my internet connection had been failing at random times, usually when im downloading something. Today I finally got beyond jarred off with it happening all the time and me losing my downloads, so i called them. Apart from the guy on the phone being indian and me not being able to understand his accent very well, he told me that it only seems to happen when i download music from the internet or play on a online game. Hmm.... I thought, how does he know this? Is it common for isp's to be able to 'track' your movements on the net or is there some sort of spyware in the tiscali programs i installed when joining tiscali. I have spy-bot search and destroy, and run it about once a week but nothing from tiscali has ever appeared on there.
I would be grateful for any light anyone could shed on this.
Thanks in advance.

We have a Tiscali expert on this forum from their Customer Support unit. Have a look at this link and follow the instructions contained therein. If after that you still have a problem let Dave know.

I can assure you that we or any other isp's do not have the facility. I magine he was making an assumptions based on your description fo the problem, but perhaps he didn't put this across correctly.

As greysts has said I am here to help, so have a look through the link provided and contact me should you ned any further help.

Yeah? OK! I have no axe to grind with Tiscali BB but the only major problem I had was when, for a couple of days, I could not connect to Tiscali. Phoned the guy in India who repeated verbatim his pre-defined script issued by Tiscali but then said hang on I can see what you are doing and I will be back in a minute. When he came back, I was connected and everything was working fine. "Something or other needed to be reset at our end" he said cheerfully.

Big Brother or just a one-off?

perhaps we should be told

ps proof I'm not anti-Tiscali
