Incredimail
      #768 - Sun Jun 08 2003 11:35 PM

Hi Gang, I quite fancy giving incredimail a bit of a try but wondered if anyone knows of any problems that occur when used with Windows XP Home. I did try it a while ago on '95 but ran into all sorts of trouble that I'm hoping won't be an issue this time. As always please accept my thanks in advance, Regards, Steve.

Steve, I downloaded incredimail about a year ago and it has proved to be most rewarding (I'm on windows'98). Just as soon as I'd explored the animations and letters they provide, I did countless searches and included those I took a fancy to. All you do on an animation or otherwise, is a right clic, scroll down to "save to incredimail". Anything that takes your fancy, even "rude" animations, in they go. I have since moved on from the usual free incredimail that is offered, to the more advanced version (again free, don't agree to buy anything, it aint worth it). I have to put my hand up and confess to one problem which may not be anything to do with incredimail. When Freeserve (my ISP) sent me an email, as soon as I scrolled down to read it, it said I'd perfomed an illegal action, and crashed. However, since then, Freeserve have sent me snail mail, stating that I'd not done as requested in the email, and asked me to perform a few simple steps, to allow Freeserve to generate a new dial-up number if my current dial-up number fails to respond. BUT, I cannot perform those steps. I've told you this lengthy story, simply to explain that it might not have been the fault of incredimail. If you want me to email you, with the upgraded version of incredimail, then email me, I have ticked the facility to give you the opportunity. Colin

Colin, isn't it true that if the recipient of your e-mails doesn't also have incredimail then some of the functions, animations etc. will not work?

Nirvana

This depends on what email client they're using and whether they're set up to accept HTML mail. If you send an Incredimail message to an Outlook Express user, for example, who has the default settings still set, they should receive the message as it was intended.

Steve, if your virus program is AVG, check if it supports Incredimail. Some time ago I had Incredimail and AVG did not support it then.

One thing to remember is who you are sending messages via Incredimail to. Not everyone appreciates a long download time because of all those funny animations you include.
Nothing is as simple as we hope it will be.

Incredimail is a yawn. Two weeks ago I was having problems receiving my e-mails in OE6. I am on broadband, and when using send/receive the message receiving 1 of 5 (or whatever) it would start receiving 1 then 2 then stop receiving and lock up.

The next time I Send/receive I would get the same problem with the same messages being received then lock up.

To cure the problem I entered my NTL via webmail and deleted the third message and all the others would load then OK in OE.

The problem was a corrupted Incredimail file on a relatives computer, every time he sent me an e-mail I had the same problem, but no problems from anyone else.

He deleted Incredimail and reinstalled a new copy and the problem is now cured.

Hi Guys, thanks to everyone who replied and my apologies for being a bit lax in getting back to you all, just pressures of work and too little time!. I'm going to have a further think about it but reckon I might give it a go in the end. Special thanks to Colin for your kind offer but I'll decline just at the moment (no offense intended) and to George for the timely reminder about folks not always appreciating lengthy downloads. Thanks again everyone, Regards, Steve.

A postscript..........when spam arrives on incredimail and you "block sender", they never arrive again. Currently there are 41 in the deleted box. When spam arrives in O/Ex, and you clic on messages and "block", the soddin things still get through ?
