yahoo mail in OE
      #76065 - Sun Jun 06 2004 10:48 PM

My default mail client is blueyonder.
I also have a separate mail account with Yahoo! which i use when signing up for things that require email verification.
When I want to check mail on this account it means logging onto yahoo, then logging into mail just to see if I have any messages, I was looking into using O.E. to check this account too. There were a few things I'm unsure about.
Firstly my yahoo account has a spam filter & Bulk mail folder which automatically separates the real mail from the chaff.
Will I retain this ability if using O.E? My inbox only gets a few messages a week whilst today my Bulk folder had 99 messages.
I have added the account under mail in O.E. but it wont connect.
I have presumed the connection to be Pop3.yahoo.com & smtp.yahoo.com
is this the case?

Also when creating or replying to mail how can i determine how my email address shows up? I don't want to reply to a message on one account with the email from another.

Thanks in advanced
A confused M.M.

Mickey you have the wrong settings, these are the correct ones

pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk
smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk

I use yahoo email in thunderbird and there is no charge for pop email with yahoo

When you download messages to outlook express it will only download the messages from your yahoo inbox, the bulk messages will stay in the bulk folder which you would need to delete online.

one more thing, before you can use the correct settings you need to log into your yahoo account online and activate pop email which is done by clicking mail options and then pop access/forwarding and then save

I tried this but I comes up with a charge to activate it.
I think I have read about this problem on another post elsewhere:-
when I signed up for yahoo mail I was on the Yahoo .com but as I recall if you registered on the Yahoo .co.uk there was no charge for pop3 forwarding.
Even if I log onto .co.uk it redirects to .com when I check mail & this is where the charge comes into effect.
I never realised what page I was on when I signed up though.

ok i just presumed you would be with co.uk

yahoo.co.uk pop email is free as i use it and have never paid for years, just unlucky that you signed up to com and not co.uk.

how much do they charge you?

nothing for what I've got but about £20 per month for pop3 forwarding according to the site.
