I am an octogenerian with a little knowledge of the internet working. On many pages when I try to click on a link I get either no response or a blank page with "error on page" or "Done" in the task bar. I notice that when I depress the left mouse button it shows "Javascript........" and the error or done messages appear when I release it. I am using I.E. 6 What can I do to get to the link pages?

Welcome to WU

The most likely cause is some poor webpage script on the part of the webmaster.
but there are other causes

I have a couple of questions for you if you don't mind answering
Which version of Windows are you running?

(If you are running Windows XP, have you downloaded SP1.
To find out , Go to Start | Control Panel | System | General Tab
It should tell you in the System section)

Or have you installed any Internet Explorer Service Packs To find out, Open Internet Explorer, Go To Help | About | Internet Explorer
Look in the Update Versions section

If you have a pop up stopper enabled....disable it.
This may resolve your problem.

I've noticed a growing number of people with javascript problems. A few of the members at my website have complained they can't use the chat room, which is javascript.

All have IE6 SP1 and Microsoft have now withdrawn the VM (virtual machine) from IE. They have had to download the Sun Java VM from here.
