Hi Sickey,

Nice to talk to you. I'm afraid I don't quite understand what you mean. Do you mean the program icons that are next to the clock in the systray? If so, they are there all the time, even when Outlook is running. I hope that helps but if not, please write another message.

Love,
Becky

Sorry to confuse you snowy! I’m not very good at describing things, ill give it another go!

(By the way this question is not a problem more of a 'wonder if you can do that?'

I have two areas of the taskbar:

1, the left area, which for example on my Pc has this IE window and MS outlook (large buttons).

2, the systray on the right

Often when things run they don't appear in area '1', but just appear in area '2' I know in some programs you get the option to 'minimise to systray' Avg, broadand stuff, sound card drivers, kazaa, etc all appear in area 2 only.

Maybe the option 'minimise to systray' exists in MS outlook, or maybe there is a registry hack or something. Basically i just want it sitting in area '2' all day hapilly checking for emails without getting in my way. I'm Fussy yeh?!

Hope this is clear!

Just to confirm, you are using Microsoft Outlook and not Outlook Express aren't you? With either though, and I'm sure an expert will come along and confirm otherwise, I don't think you can to receive notifications of mail received if you have not first loaded Outlook or OE. However, all you need to do is load Outlook (or OE) then minimise it so that it appears in the centre of your bottom tool bar. Then when you receive a message an envelope will appear in your Task Tray (accompanied by a sound if you have that setting on). Just then maximise Outlook, look at your Emails and when finished, minimise again. This all presumes, of course, that you are leaving your internet connection on all the time.

Thanks

It is Microsoft Outlook and not Outlook Express. It's good when it pops up with the little envelope in systray(just realised if you double click this ms outlook pops up), shame though that you have to have it sitting in the taskbar. God im fussy! Good thing with Xp is you can group similar taskbar items to tidy it all up, maybe ill have a look on the net for some taskbar manging software.

Thanks for all your help

Correct as far as Outlook Express is concerned Arandora and I'm sure Outlook will be the same ie.
You need to have the programme opened to receive e-mail notification at the "arrow" in the systemtray. If not, no notification will be shown.

Hi Becky I managed to find some software to do exactly what i wanted. Took me a while!

These are shareware and cost a few dollars to register. I tried a third one, but that made my computer sick!
