I am trying to burn a VCD and for some reason it is taking three hours and is still only up to 12%. It does not happen on all the films I burn just some does anyone know why. How long should a normal VCD take to burn. My burner is a ARTEC WRR-52Z [CD-ROM drive] and I am using Imation CD-R 48. I need guidance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! professional dizzy!

Has the film been already been converted to VCD format or is it still in AVI format. If it is the latter, then it could take ages depending on your system specs. If it has been converted then it should take no longer than about 20min at x8 speed. For more information regarding convertion and burning, check out dvdhelpAll I ever wanted was an honest weeks pay for an honest days work
no it has not been converted I am letting Nero do the encoding and I have been out and left it running now for 4.5 hours and it is at 16%. I am running AMD Athlon IV 2600 XP 512MB, 266MHz DDR RAM, 80.2Gb 7200 RPM Harddrive. Can't see a problem with power just my lack of knowledge. It is a 2 part film and i have burnt the 2nd part to disk in 1.5 hours but this is a joke!!! I will have a look at that link thanks

Nero is not the quickest at encoding, I would suggest using the free version of TMPGEnc which is linked at DVDHelp, as well as how to use it. Normally it takes me about 3hrs to encode to standard vcd, my specs are Athlon 1.3 with 512Mb of RAM. I always try and obtain files in encoded form, to save the hassle of encoding, to watch on my stand alone DVD player.
