Thumbs or Thumbnails
      #70138 - Fri May 21 2004 10:12 AM

Hi All,

I manage a couple of web sites and I keep noticing files called "Thumbs" keep appearing in my web files without me creating them. I use MS FrontPage 2000. Please can anyone tell me why this happens and is it safe to delete them?

Thanks

The thumbs.db file is generated by the Windows operating system. It is a database file containing the small images displayed when you view a folder in thumbnail" view (as opposed to tile, icon, list, or detail view).

No harm is done by deleting thumbs.db files. There is no need to include them in your system backups. Whether you see these files or not is a function of your File Options settings.

Please post your query to the boards, so that others can learn
Remember there is no such thing as a simple question, just a question you don't know the answer to, though they are the easiest to answer
