I ran the installer CD and it got half way before encountering a problem that meant I had to call technical support. To cut a long story short, my PC will not accept the drivers for the Cable Modem 351000. It's in the USB socket (I have no ethernet compatibility) and is clashing with something.
At present my USB drivers are:
-OPTi 82C861 PCI to USB Open Host Controller -USB Control Hub -USB Control Hub -VIA VT83C572/VT82C586 PCI to USB Universal Host Controller
I'm running Windows 98 Plus
The Cable Modem does appear in the device manager, but with an exclamation mark over it.
I would agree entirely with Bricat - get an ethernet card and forget the USB connection. If you want to try once more with the USB, go into Device Manager and delete the device with the exclamation mark. Switch off your PC, plug in the USB cable and switch on again. The New Hardware wizard should start and install your modem.
