Hi all,i'm having problems connecting my Medion laptop to Bt Openwolrd.I have been connecting via my phoneline to BT Openworld with no problems for the last year. Now when i try to connect i hear the dial tone,my modem dials the number over the dial tone(strange) and no connection is made and i'm asked to hang up and try again. However it would appear that the line is not hung up when exiting the dial-up program and starting again.I have to manually remove the cable and replace it to get a new dialing tone.I have ran all the diagnostic checks on my PC for the modem and they all show that it is working correctly,i also tried the troubleshooter again with no luck.My phone line appears to be working correctly, i can make and receive calls and when i dial my ISP number with my home phone is connects.......Any help would be appreciated, thanks
It sounds as if the modem isn't sending the correct signal. Check the properties of the dial-up connection to make sure that it hasn't been changed from tone dialling to pulse dialling. Do you have to dial a special number to get an outside line such as a 9? If you do, put a comma between the 9 and the t/p number. Try creating a new dial up connection to your mobile phone and see if the modem can dial out to that.
I used to have BT Openworld Anytime which has now been upgraded to BT Yahoo! Anytime. I was under the impression that all BT customers would be changed to BT Yahoo! Perhaps this is the problem with you. Have you tried contacting BT about your connection difficulty? I know they downloaded some new connection software when I changed, but I can't remember exactly what it was. I still have the same dial-up number. Madeline. To err is human; to really foul things up you need a computer.
is it possable to try another modem? - this would show you if its a hardware error
also, try another cable(s) as it could be a problem with that
i doubt it is your dialup software as this software is useually 'all the same'
personnaly i dont install my ISP cd, i set up my dialup connection menually and just use the windows dialer - you could also try this to check its not the software
