Hi All,
I am sure I won't be the only one who will be thinking "What shall I do?".
Can anyone suggest what we should do? I use broadband a lot each day, I send a few emails a week, receive a lot of emails a week, I have my own website on Freeserve so I am uploading stuff but not often, I update the anti-virus often, I download software but not often. I don't play online films or games.
So, from that should I stay with paying £27.99 and my usage isn't capped or go over to Wanadoo £17.99 and the usage is capped?
Please advise.
Thanks
Cal

If you're thinking that much about changing Freedom2surf do uncapped for £22.50 per month
Please post your query to the boards as many hands make light work, and I'm not talking electricians! If your problem is solved, let us know so that others can learn.

What is it capped at? Your usage certainly suggests that you could live with a cap. What sort of penalty is there if you go over the limit? Do they allow it and charge you more or just say "That's it, you have to stop surfing for the rest of the month." If you are satisfied with the answers then saving £10 a month has got be a good idea.

I didn't make something clear, I was with Freeserve Broadband paying £27.99 and now TODAY Freeserve have changed to Wanadoo so I am with them now but still got the same account at the moment. Wanadoo are offering different packages. Because I'm already a customer, my contract will stay the same i.e. no cap, but they say that their "Fair use clause applies" although it doesn't say what is a fair usage. I hope this make sense.
I'll try answering these questions:-
What is it capped at? Existing customers £27.99 - no cap, If you change to £17.99 - 2GB usage a month, New customer £27.99 - 15GB usage a month, Existing & new customers £34.99 - 1Mb usage a month
What sort of penalty is there if you go over the limit? Do they allow it and charge you more or just say "That's it, you have to stop surfing for the rest of the month." How I have read it, they'll disconnect you.
I am confuse on what to do.

With your usage I think I would go for the £17.99 and if the cap is too low, upgrade your account.

Wanadoo haven't starte dmonitoring usage yet and won't do untill later this year.
If you go over the limit you can pay a certain amount and get unlimited acess for the rest of the month or you can pay for every 1mb you go over it (I think it is 1mb anyway)

Hiya,
I was exactly like you. I have been with Freeserve broadband paying £27.99 for two years now. When they changed to Wanadoo and have brought out these new packages, I was also wondering about swapping over to the £17.99 one.
But then worked out that 2GB a month is actually not a lot. One of the things it says is that you can only download 400 emails a week, which when you're on a lot of email groups, is not really a lot.
But what turned it for me, was when I found out from a few people on ADSL guide that in March, customers on the £27.99 a month one, were offered the same service but for £19.99 a month, if they phoned up Freeserve saying that they need to change internet companies as they are finding the £27.99 too expensive.
I missed out on this as I didn't know that they were offering this, and was a bit annoyed, as being a customer of Freeserve broadband for two years, felt that I should have been given the announcement that the offer was available.
Also saying that, I do find that £27.99 is a lot of money and it does drain us quite a bit financially. If this was the only option going, or if all ISP's were only offering this price, then so be it, I would have to pay it, but when I found that quite a few ISP's were charging quite a bit less for BB, I thought that I may as well change.
I asked a lot of questions on the ADSL guide forum web site, and narrowed it down to either Freedom2surf £22.50 a month, or Plusnet £18.99 a month, both uncapped.
So I went for Plusnet £18.99 a month and on June 24th I migrate over. However, two days after signing up for it, I noticed that they changed their web site and when I phoned up customer service, they said that the £18.99 package was no longer available. But coz I've already signed up for it, they said I'll be ok!
Good luck anyway and let me know how you get on with it. Love, Becky xxxxxxxx
