Hi All, I would welcome any advice to clear an annoying problem when opening sites - such as Google, Nationwide (and all sites) etc - up until yesterday any site I chose opened in full page 'maximise' mode. Now, for some unknown reason I cannot find out, all the sites I visit open in half page 'minimum' mode and I have to click the boxes in the top right hand corner to 'maximise' them. It is really annoying not knowing what has gone wrong. Is there a way of returning the system to it's normal self where web sites I visit open in full page'maximum' mode? Thanks to anyone who can help on this.

To open Internet Explorer in a maximised window
For the initial window:
Right click on the Internet Explorer icon on your taskbar and click Properties In the Run field, choose the maximized option. Click Apply then ok.
To maximize new windows:
In the existing Internet Explorer Window,
Right click on a link and click open in New Window After you have opened the new window, close the original (and any other IE windows except the new one). Resize the new window (drag the edges) to the largest possible size, then close that window. Now reload IE and try opening a new window
or you can use a program called Autosizer

I find if a window opens small, maximize it,then press the shift key and close the window. It should open maximized next time you open that window.

Hi, Thanks for the reply but your initial good advice does not appear to work. I have not used Autosizer as yet but am a bit puzzled as to why my system has gone like this. Is this normal and what could have caused this? I have had my PC for six months and used it normally each time until yesterday. I did nothing nothing out of the ordinary (a creature of habit!) and have never had this problem before. Could a virus be in my system? I have Windows XP and when going into properties nothing appears as 'run' in the choices. I have also tried your other advice and that does not work either. Is this a common problem? Thanks again for your prompt advice Mike P

Hi, Thanks for the advice but unfortunately it does not solve the problem. It is just a little mystifying why this has happened. Thanks Mike P

Yes, unfortunately it is common and , 999/1000, it is a user error. you may well have done something different from normal. Very unlikely to be a virus.
You might want to try a system restore to a couple of days ago
