Double click 'my computer'.
Double click on 'Dial Up Networking'.
Double click on 'Make new Connection'.
For phone number please type **1263** 0800 519 0100
Call the connection 'ntlworld'.
You should now see the icon appear in the Dial Up Networking folder.
Right click on the icon and choose 'properties'.
Ensure that the correct modem is selected in the 'general' tab.
Click the 'server types' tab and ensure that 'enable software compression' and 'tcp/ip' are the only options selected.
Now click on the 'tcp/ip settings' button, where the following settings apply: (* = select by ticking or dotting.)
*Server assigned IP address.
*Specify name server addresses:
Primary DNS: 194.168.4.100
Secondary DNS: 194.168.8.100
Primary Wins: 0.0.0.0
Secondary Wins: 0.0.0.0
*Use IP header compression
*Use default gateway on remote network.

Now click 'OK' all the way back to 'Dial up Networking'.
Again right click on the dialler and this time choose 'create shortcut'.
Say 'yes' to this being placed on your desktop.
You will now have a shortcut to your ntlWorld connection. To launch the connection, simply double click on it and enter your ntl user name and password. Launch your browser when the connection is established and you will receive web pages via ntl.

You will also need to set up the email preferences within your preferred email client. The information you will need to do this is as follows:

Your ntlWorld user name and password
Your ntlWorld email address
Our mail servers:
Incoming POP3: pop.ntlworld.com
Outgoing SMTP: smtp.ntlworld.com
Our news server: news.ntlworld.com
Use 'ntlworld' to dial a connection
