I read in issue 61 someone praising NERO-BURNING ROM i have this version5 can you tell me how to get it to recognise my cd writer which is freecom classic that is connected via usb port any suggestions? please!!!!!

Are you saying Nero won't work with your writer, or simply that your device isn't recognised by name?
Check at the Nero Update page for the last update for Nero 5.x (it is 5.5.10.42). If you started from the main page instead of my link, it is listed under Downloads menu > "Previous versions" since Nero has now moved on to version 6 as the current one.
Nero should still work with your writer even if the model isn't included in the list of recognised drives, they simply cannot guarantee the quality of the results.

Then to be honest, as long as it still burns as you want, ignore that. Nero do say in their help sections they are not able to include every writer on the market, and results may be uncertain. Really the things you may find not functioning correctly would be overburn and the ability to use CDspeed or DriveSpeed tto determine the optimum speeds for your device. But the basic tools you want to use should still work, or are there specific problems you have which need fixing?
