THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT MY MOTHER HAS WHEN SHE CONNECTS TO FREESERVE.AFTER ABOUT A MINUTE ONLINE AFTER THE FREESERVE HOMEPAGE AS LOADED THIS MESSAGE APPEARS.
THIS SYSTEM IS SHUTTING DOWN.PLEASE SAVE ALL WORK IN PROGRESS AND LOG OFF.THIS SHUTDOWN WAS INITIATED BY NT AUTHORITY/SYSTEM.
TIME BEFORE SHUTDOWN 00.40
WINDOWS MUST NOW RESTART BECAUSE THE REMOTE PROCEDURE CALL (RPC) SERVICE TERMINATED UNEXPECTEDLY.
THAT IS THE EXACT MESSAGE I HAVE TYPED ABOVE.WHEN THE COUNTDOWN REACHES 00.00 WINDOWS SHUTS DOWN THEN RESTARTS AGAIN.SHE IS RUNNING WINDOWS XP AND ISP IS FREESERVE.
ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED AS SHE IS AN EBAY ADDICT AND IS CURRENTLY GOT ITEMS FOR SALE WHICH WILL NEED SORTING IF THEY ARE SOLD.
THANKS FOR TAKING THE TIME TO READ THIS.

I can't add anything to Poppy's suggestion beyond the fact that this problem seems to be affecting quite a few people, so at least you're not alone.
One thing I would like to say though. I know it's not intentional, so don't take this as a criticism, but the use of capitals is equivalent to shouting and, apart from sometimes causing offence, can be difficult to read.
That said, welcome to our on-line community.

I know Barney's not here over the weekend, so I'll take the liberty of answering on his behalf. He almost certainly doesn't have the blaster virus, as his OS is WinME, same as mine. The blaster worm doesn't affect WinME.

Poppy, why does your pic/thumbnail show up with the red x in little white box or are you trying to confuse me (not very hard to do!) and it's intentional?

if you right click on it and select "show picture" it might work.

i had the exact same problem with my new machine. The blaster virus was a pain! There are 2 alternatives get the securtiy patch from the microsoft website or reinstall ur operating system. WARNING only use the second option if no other option is available. But use a little less of the capitols next time.
