Is it worth changing from MS IE to Opera browser
      #52627 - Tue Mar 23 2004 02:13 PM

Hi All,

I was reading an artical about free browsers and it suggests that Opera 7.23 is the best from the whole lot. I haven't got any complaints about MS IE, but just wondered if it would be worth trying Opera. Has or is there anyone using Opera and is it simple to use?

Thanks

Cal

there are a lot of different browsers to choose from, opera, mozilla, slimbrowser etc. the best way is to install it and give it a run. you still have IE if you don't like it.

I've used Opera and although it's visually pleasing and has some great features, it can be a little complicated. You'll probably need to use it for at least a month to get used to it but if you're anything like me you may find yourself opening IE now and again to do certain things. Try it though, as Bricat says, you can always revert back solely to IE.

I think I may be plain unadventurous, but I'm going to stay with IE unless I have any problems with it. It's been fine so far.

Understand that with Opera "free" carries a price, which is the ad banner at the top. If you want the banner to go, then you have to buy the browser. If you want real free, without the catch, then try Mozilla.

opera is a sexy browser but to be honest IE is the quickest .....as all websites are built with IE in mind and when you use opera you will find alot of sites do not load correctly

As a gentle step away from IE I use AventBrowser as it's an extention to IE rather than having to start from scratch. It has some nice touches and I would recommend giving it a go.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I've been using Slimbrowser for a few weeks (it's really a giant plugin for IE) and I've been really happy with it. It uses IE as a base but you get a lot more control over how it works.
