The experience i have gained by being able to look over other people's sites and see how they have put their sites together has been fantastic. I would thoroughly recommend this to other inspiring web authors. So come on Web-User and produce a list of members/readers websites.

and i agree
advice and ideas from message board posters and webusers comments in the readers section of the magazine is helpfull

Web-User is about web users, so how about showing more of what web users do as well as what web users use.

I would also like to make a comment;
Yes a list of readers websites would be useful, but I find the all non commercial situation annoying. I have designed a site (my first I must add) which is offering a service, in which people pay a small nominal rate for the services, which covers hosting, domain name etc.
The site is run in my own time (I also work full time)
Would this be classed as a commericial site?

just thought of a further problem wit h readers website listing
web user sells what?
bout 60,000 a issue
i bet a majority have sum sort of website
and they couldnt list em all
wud be a bit chaotic

I think the term they use is 'Not for profit'.
If your site income only covers your costs then theres no profit. Thing is, what happens to money earnt after the bills are paid.
I have affiliate programs running so I can finance the competitions my site runs. All money (of which theres hardly any) goes into these competitions. I'm lucky as I don't have to pay for my hosting as a friend of mine part owns a hosting company. All I have to pay for is my domain and at £10 for 2 years, I can afford that out of my own pocket, just.

Going back to the initial point... I think the best thing to do in the short term is to monitor the response to this group. At the moment it seems to be working quite well, but if it became overloaded and stopped being useful we'd think of another way of letting readers shout about their sites (and letting other readers shout back!). I think an open forum is the best place to do this.
I've no idea how many of our readers have their own websites - perhaps we'll run it as the next Vote on the site. Personally I have great respect for anyone who ventures into the world of webmastering.
As for site submissions, Jonny is right when he says "not for profit" - everyone's got to pay the bills, but we have to draw a line somewhere, so we exclude profit-making sites. Innovative money-making sites are covered in the CashPoints section of Web User magazine.

I've got a suggestion, Andrew. Knowing nothing (yet) about web design I don't know how, or even if, it would work, but what about a board consisting of nothing but links? It wouldn't be very informative, so perhaps I haven't properly thought it through, but it's another idea to play with.
The same idea, assuming it can be made to work, could also be used for part of my "Where can I find ... ?" idea elsewhere on this site. There doesn't seem to have been much interest in that one though, so perhaps not.
There is intelligent life on Earth, but I'm only visiting.
