Ok so i have 2 laptops with the same problem
1 is Packard Bell ipower 5000 series
2nd is Fujitsu Seimans Li1705
Both power up, HD spin, CD drives spin, Cooler fans spin. But both power to a black screen.
Tonight i revisited them and ive had them both powered up and the screens came on, but after powering off each of them they now longer work again. Both boot to a black screen.
I have tried the 60sec trick whereby you take the battery out and power off. hold power button for 60 secs. Plug power back in and boot up. This worked for one laptop but the screen was black for the next time it booted.
i have tried a memory replacement and memtest software.
ive tried the Fn+F4 for manually switching on/off the external monitor
i have tried loosening screws and removing plates incase its shorting anywhere.
i have tried external monitors but this displays blank pages.
ive checked the ribbons on the lcds
ive tried booting with the lid at different angles
ive put new paste on the heatsink for the processor
ive cleaned all cooling areas.
I still get nothing but a black screen on bootup. It sounds like the machines are booting as normal behind the black screen.
Im now asking for any last ideas before they both go on ebay for spares/repair!
