hi,i was given an old pc with 8gb hardrive,i used "killdisk" to wipe the drive,now when i tried to install windows xp, i get the message "no operating system on the hardrive". i realize i wiped the drive, but i though all i had to do was put the xp disk into the drive and it would load ,please explain what i did wrong,( i did try to alter the boot order in the bios) to try to boot from the cd. any help appreciated thanks

It seems that the PC is still trying to boot from the hard drive which now has no operating system on it. Check again that the Boot Device sequence in the BIOS is set so that the CD drive comes before the hard drive.

thanks mike,i have already double checked that the c/d is set to boot first, i cant think what else i can do, thanks again for your help

burrwalnut,no all i did was use killdisk to wipe the drive,??? how do i format the drive now,that i cant get to it,"if you know what i mean" thanks

helo again ,thanks for that link,amde some interesting reading,however i still cant get it to boot from the c/d,anyway its not huge problem,as the h/d was only 10 gb,ill just get another and go from there, many thanks to all who tried to help
