Despite the fanfare surrounding Windows 7, a significant minority of PC users are not keen on Windows, or the money being asked to upgrade to the latest version. However, for those wanting to jump ship to Linux, a bewildering number of Linux versions, often with odd names/nick names, pop up when you look into adopting a non-Windows/Mac operating system; Jaunty Jalopy, Puppy, Damn Small, Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu...
It can seem confusing, and off-putting, but you only need the Linux OS that suits your own needs. To help achieve this, there's a useful site you can click on here. Using a pre-picked sample of the most widely adopted 'distro's', you answer simple, multiple choice questions which take into account not only your computing needs, but your familiarity (or lack of) with Linux.
I tried it out, and was pleased to see it recommend the two Linux versions I use, and a few others.

Jaunty Jalopy
Just to clarify; this is my nickname for a silly Linux nickname - the real term is 'Jaunty Jackalope'. I find the names a bit irritating, but Ubuntu's 'Karmic Koala' (the latest version, released 29/10) is rather good in use.
