      #441031 - Wed Oct 28 2009 06:08 PM

We've spent all day getting to grips with Google's exciting new communications tools - you can read our early Google Wave review now....

Let's hope those Google gurus hurry up and make it fully available....

Just been to a busy Down-under Forum and they like it
They seem to have got the Invite network sorted. Nothing happening in the UK yet

I have my name on their list, but I'm not being allowed in (yet).

It will be very useful for collaborating for business and pleasure as I work with people online around the UK and in Australia. Also got family in America.

I found this video explained some of its possibilities.

I guess the Australian angle is helped by the fact that it's come out of Google's Brisbane office - makes sense that Australians are excited. It's being developed by the team that started Google Maps, and we know how brilliant that is. It's an exciting project - shame it's so limited in numbers at the moment.

Sounds like it'll be right up your street Dangermouse - as long as you can get your family/friends/colleagues to sign up.

I'm hoping they repeat what they did with Google Mail and give each person invited a further 5 invites to hand out to their friends!

I'll ask my Australian contacts if they have invites..

Yes, that's what's happening at the moment - the original testers have had invites to give out, but it'll be a few weeks, apparently, before those invitees will get invites of their own. I think they accept that there's little point in getting an account if you haven't got anyone else to talk to!

It has the potential of slowing down the waiting list though. But increasing the 'scalability' (ie the rate of acceleration of the number of people they can let on at a time) is the developers' number one priority at the moment.
