For some reason my picture below my username (left handside) is not showing yet I have not deleted it or anything.
Is it just mine or others having the same problem?

I have just had a look and a lot of users avatars are missing. what site do you have your avatar stored on. maybe their server is down. neither of you have an avatar installed in your profiles.

Mine was uploaded to WU itself. I have had a lot of trouble trying to reinstate mine and had a few 'server errors' in the process. WU? Problems?

Mine is hosted on an overseas forum server If the site is "down" my avatar disappears I did note that most I have looked at (on the Properties) are originating from the Web User server

There clearly is a problem with avatars. It seems to have coincided with the 'new look' forum.
As to the whys and wherefores I know not - though it could be any number of things to do with edited coding, read/write permissions, etc.
To play safe can I recommend you;
a) either use a stock avatar or, have your avatar hosted elsewhere (i.e. ISP provided free-space ). b) ensure the avatar is 80x80, or 1:1 (otherwise it may be squeezed or stretched to fit) c) save the avatar as either jpg or gif
If you host your avatar on an FTP accessible server name it appropriately (i.e. wu_avatar.jpg), then if you wish to change your avatar (seasonal, topical, etc.) merely upload a file of the same name, overwriting the original and your avatar used on the forum(s) changes. No requirement to edit the avatar via user options.

Have changed mine to one on a hosted site. Couldn't find the other one so it was probably time for a change.
It was a bit of a struggle getting it to work, mind.

As a matter of interest Jedi's Avatar is a W/U Hosted item
I can see that. So, with the Majority going elsewhere to be Hosted That means that some peoples avatars are reappearing telling me the Bandwidth on the server is back within limits...Oddly enough we have had No Slow loading pages as well which would confirm the root cause FYI Animated Avatars are Prohibited on many private Forums as They swallow Bandwidth badly unless they are remotely Hosted by prior arrangement

. . . . "Oddly enough we have had No Slow loading pages as well which would confirm the root cause" . . . . .
That isn't the case for everyone Mike. Regular Server errors, Timeouts and Service Unavailable - Zero size objects are the norm for me. The other Sunday these forums were down for 2½ hrs with Service unavailable due to high demands. No one has reported this so it's obviously a user (me) generated action of navigating through the forum, which causes errors on Webuser's server.
Clearly the new look forum does not agree with my set up but does for the majority.
