PayPal not working is a familiar excuse that can cover it's not working to 'I don't actually have the money' or have never bothered updating my cards. A recent buyer of us had the nerve to say she was waiting for it to be Verfied yet was another seller just waiting for money in from her next sale (She paid remarkably quickly when we started an Unpaid Item Dispute).

If the listing states PayPal only then tough on them. They have to pay or after four days now you can file for Unpaid Item - NEVER EVER fall for the 'Mutual Cancellation' one (I'm still a tenner out of pocket in fees from when a daft buyer clicked the wrong button).

If you have stated payment by other methods, then you have to accept but the only the payments you have said in the listing. Tell them if it is Postal Order you can send it out on receipt BUT do not do that with a cheque - they must wait five days for it to clear from receipt.

I do not like giving out my bank details and anyway, was that a payment choice?

Because of post strikes I would ask them to send it Recorded First and explain that it will lead to delays you cannot control. I've just had a buyer from Eire say she will pay by Postal Order/Bankers Draft and I have emailed her to state it must be a British Postal order in Pounds not Euros.

Generally state the facts, set the customer's expectations and it should be okay.
