PC restarting when USB connected
      #440797 - Sun Oct 25 2009 10:29 AM

Hello,

I find myself in a peculiar situation where every time I connect a USB device (e.g. printer, camera) to any USB port on my computer (Windows XP SP3), the PC immediately restarts itself. Interestingly, my USB wireless mouse still functions correctly.

This process repeats itself if I restart the computer in any mode (i.e. safe mode, safe mode with networking etc) and the only way to start the computer is to unplug the USB product.

Equally, if I plug the USB product in to the PC but don't turn it on, the computer loads successfully however, as soon as I turn on the power to the USB product, the computer restarts.

I've tried the USB products on my laptop and do not experience any difficulties at all.

If anyone has any advice for me I'd really appreciate it.

Thank you.
