Red Tint on Monitor
      #440758 - Sat Oct 24 2009 07:40 PM

Hi all, Hope this is in the right place...

I have been fixing a PC for someone this week. They only gave me the base unit & monitor....No wires

Thus, I have had to use my own wires, swapping them from one pc to the other.....

When I plugged MY OWN PC & Monitor in yesterday, the display has a tint of red to it...

About an hour later, there was a popup, saying something along the lines of 'graphics accelertor not responding', but I didn't get a chance to take down any details.

My monitor Cable has 2 connections...

I have connected the other monitor up to it, and that works fine...

If I unhook my monitor from the PC, but leave the power on, the Dell selftest goes around the screen, and all of the colours show fine.

All connections look OK, I've had the back off the tower, and everything looks as it should be.

EDIT: All Drivers show up as OK, & I have restored the Monitor to Factory Settings

Any advice guys!?!?!?!?!

Cheers Mugsy

After a bit of research, I have remembered that the error message was generated by VPU Recover....

I have tried toggling the VPU Recover on & off, but no luck!

Hi again , sorry to keep posting on my own posts

Right, my monitor, has one of those splitter cables on for connecting a second monitor to it....

My monitor works fine on another PC...

Another monitor has a red tint on my PC....

If, however, I hook it up as a second monitor, it has no tint...

So....

I have switched the wires round and made my monitor the 2nd one....

Then disabled the 1st monitor in my settings....

My screen now has no red tint

I feel I have only treated the symptoms though, and the problem is still lurking around....

I'm thinking that the splitter cable may have become damaged?????

Anyways....

That's how I did that!!!!!
