Reading through the latest Web User, I was reminded of World Wind and thought I'd give it a go. Initially the graphics looked brighter than Google Earth and the icons produced a variety of things I might not ever need.
Double clicking soon brought zoom into play but after a while, it stopped out of focus. I tried in a number of locations with no success.
On investigation after doing searches, I discovered that World Wind was produced prior to Vista and as such, it wasn't compatible, so I uninstalled it.
Now if anyone on Vista has achieved success, then maybe you would explain in a)b)c) terms how this was done.

Windows Vista compatibility
World Wind was not designed for Windows Vista, but can run on it. The best way is installing World Wind outside of the program files directory, in C:\NASA for example, or on another partition (e.g. D:\Program Files\NASA).
Another workaround is to leave UAC enabled and run World Wind as an administrator:
* Install World Wind as you would any other Windows program. Once installed then right click the World Wind application or shortcut and select "properties." * On the properties dialog box under the Compatibility tab select "Run this program as an administrator" and then save this change.
World Wind can then be run as any other Windows program and the UAC prompts whether to allow or cancel it.
You can also change WW directory properties and give users full access rights to it.
Disabling UAC is not recommended!
