I am having trouble with firefox so thought I would uninstall then re install. All the forums on how to do this refer to uninstalling through the control panel, add remove programmes. Firefox is not listed in mine, any other methods please.

It will be shown in Add/Remove Programs as Mozilla Firefox. Are you sure it isn't listed under "M"?
You can normally install Firefox over the top of an existing installation, so try that first to see if it resolves the problem you're experiencing.

Thanks Mike. The link you provided was the one I used to get the initial information. Mozilla,Firefox is certainly not in my add remove list. I am having trouble accessing links on web pages, (normally JavaScript which is enabled) Now I have trouble entering pin numbers and memorable dates on secure sites. When I click the number pad on the site to enter a number, it fills in two spaces instead of the one, therefore the pin number is wrong. there is a facility to clear the numbers, all this does is clear the whole lot and when I start again, two numbers (dots) are entered on one click. I have to go to my IE to visit the site whenever there is a problem, which works perfectly, I know from this it is Firefox which is at fault.

Perhaps the best thing to do would be to reinstall Firefox without attempting to uninstall it first. This would overwrite existing Firefox files and should put back the entry in Add/Remove Programs. It might be worth seeing if Firefox runs OK at this point.
If it doesn't, try starting Firefox in Firefox's Safe Mode (shortcut in the Start Menu). If running in Safe Mode clears up the difficulties, it's likely that an extension is causing them. If Safe Mode doesn't do any good, at least you'll be able to uninstall Firefox in the usual way via Add/Remove Programs.
Don't forget that most Firefox faults originate in the Profile, either because the Profile is damaged or because an extension is causing trouble. So, if you want to do a completely clean installation, remove all files when offered the option during the uninstallation procedure. Then search the disk for any Firefox files left behind, also search the Registry for leftover Firefox entries. Then you can be sure that all of the old Firefox has gone before installing afresh. All this may not be absolutely necessary. It just depends on how clean you want the new installation of Firefox to be.
By the way, did you try emptying the cache? A full cache can lead to some strange symptoms sometimes, so that's always worth a try before doing anything else. Also make sure that Flash is up to date.
If it becomes necessary to completely uninstall Firefox then I suggest making a backup of your bookmarks first so that they can be imported into the new Firefox installation. Install extensions and customise afresh rather than using a MozBackup or similar.
