Hi there
Hope someone can help with this.
I am having a big prob with my laptop just now. Space on my HD seems to be dissapearing without me saving anything or adding any progs - in fact I have tried to delete some of these and it is getting worse. Despite this prob nothing seems to be going too wrong and it is still running reasonably ok. My big concern is that I currenlty only have 1.84GB left and it seems to be going at about .5 of a gig each time I am on.

Welcome to the Webuser forum. 
Download and scan with CCleaner - CCleaner installs the Yahoo Toolbar as an option which IS checkmarked by default during the installation.
IF you do NOT want it, REMOVE the checkmark when provided with the option OR download the toolbar-free or Slim versions instead of the Standard Build.
- Before first use, select Options > Advanced and UNCHECK "Only delete files in Windows Temp folder older than 48 hours"
Then select "Cookies"
Move any cookies you wish to retain, e.g. login cookies, in the left-hand window to the right-hand window by highlighting them and clicking the right arrow in the centre.
- Then select the items you wish to clean up.
In the Windows Tab:
• Clean all entries in the "Internet Explorer" section.
• Clean all the entries in the "Windows Explorer" section.
• Clean all entries in the "System" section.
• Clean all entries in the "Advanced" section.
• Clean any others that you choose.
In the Applications Tab:
• Clean all entries in the Mozilla Firefox Section.
• Clean all in the Opera section if you use it.
• Clean Sun Java in the Internet Section.
• Clean any others that you choose.
- Click the "Run Cleaner" button.
- A pop up box will appear advising this process will permanently delete files from your system.
- Click "OK" and it will scan and clean your system.
- Click "exit" when done.
then DEFRAG your C:\ drive.
to help speed up your system.
then :-
download and run startup inspector
make sure you read the instructions.
It will tell you what is running at startup and what can be safely removed, and will allow you to remove the unnecessary entries to
speed up your boot up time and your general computing.
can you tell us the specs on the computer, ram, processor etc
then let us know how the computer is running.

Hiya
Thanks for reply.
I have been running CCleaner but not with as much as that selected. Did as you said and it seems to have cleaned up a good bit more than norm.
I now have 2.32 GB left on my HD - however about 2 weeks ago there was about 5. At this stage I started removing uncessary files&progs and the space started dissapearing.
Computer is running reasonably ok - not too slow on start up or when performing tasks. I just can't work out what is taking up all this space and my disc defrag is reporting it as critical. I am worried that it if it gets any worse it may be unfixable. Myself and my partner are only 2 users with less than 13GB between us in our my docs.
Computer is IBM lenovo Thinkpad 70GB hard drive
Intel Core 2 processor T5500
.99 GB RAM

try JDISKREPORT
it will tell you what is taking up space on your hard drive, hopefully you will spot something.
