Is there an easy way to change the IP address of a network printer in Windows XP. If one does "Start/Settings/Printers and Faxes" and then right-clicks on a network printer and selects properties, the "Ports" tab reveals the port to which the printer is connected and the IP address. But it is not possible (I think) to edit the IP address
In my setup, if anything causes the wireless network to need to be re-started it invariably leads to the printer not working because the IP address has changed. In Linux one simply selects printer properties and corrects the IP address but in Windows, it seems, one has to uninstall the printer software and delete the printer port, re-boot and then reinstall the printer port and software. Surely there must be a more straightforward way than this? All I needed to do was to change the last set of digits in the IP address from .10 to .11 In Linux this took less than two minutes but with Windows XP pro it took over an hour

Open your browser and type in the ip address of the printer in the address bar.
This should open the printer's configuration pages.
Among the menus there should be an option to set a fixed ip address.

OK OK I can't go any faster! aaaaaaaaaaaagh!

Many thanks RitchieP, I wish I had known that the other day; it would have saved me hours of fiddling around and getting nowhere very far.
Thanks again
