office xp and office small biz 07
      #440405 - Mon Oct 19 2009 12:39 AM

i got a lotta xp word, publisher and microsoft photo editor documents on this windows xp pc. I am happy with office xp and I do have the licence key number for the office discs.

I'm about to get a new pc with either windows vista or windows 7. Will the xp office discs install and work ok on a 2nd pc, or can I expect some kind of error message saying I can't use it on more than one pc? Will I be forced to buy office small business 07 software?

oh cripes I hope your answer is positive as I don't want to lose all those xp documents and I don't really wanna have to pay for a new office boxed disc unless I really had to.

Microsoft introduced "Product Activation" with Office XP (2002), so you may be unable to activate it in a second computer. If so, after 30 days it will either stop working or have much reduced functionality.

Having said that, some versions of Office do allow its installation in a Desktop PC and a Laptop (i.e. two PCs), in which case you might manage to use it in a new PC. Check with any paperwork or the box that came with the disks.
