if my new pc comes with windows vista, is it possible to get free upgrades so that any new components in windows 7 will be added to windows vista via the automatic updates?
am I better off today (3 days before windows 7 comes out) to stick with getting windows vista or should I tell the pc people I want windows 7?
I currently have windows xp and office xp but this machine is ready for the knackers yard. I'm concerned about if all my xp saved files will work/open etc on the new pc which will have either windows vista or windows 7 arrrrrrrrrggggghhhh help!!
And oh, my camera of which I have a cd but have lost the manual oh cripes, and also I'm concerned about my printer. Epson D68 - and the camera both work beautifully on windows/office xp. Will the digital camera and this printer work with either windows vista or windows 7 and if not how to get them working, I really don't wanna bin the printer or the camera. any help you can give I'd really appreciate it, thanks

If you are ordering it from some of the on-line retailers they will already come with windows 7 pre-installed, MESH COMPUTERS already have it installed as it is unlikely you will get the system before the 22nd other companies may offer VISTA with an up-grade voucher for windows 7 CLICK Although this pc says it comes with windows 7 if you configure it and click on the operating system it says you can have VISTA with a windows 7 upgrade voucher
If you are going to a shop to take away before the 22nd then it will be a vista, for your software to work, according to the back of the windows 7 box (mine arrived today) you will need windows 7 professional
As for the camera and printer you could check the manufacturers website for drivers for vista or windows 7 there may be a chance that the generic drivers in the OS may run either but I am only guessing.

wildthing thanks for your reply, mine's a take away/delivery job so its windows vista. As I cannot see compatability notes for my camera, scanner, printer etc I have decided to boycott any windows 7 upgrades for the time being...
all the manufacturers of my above claim all will work in vista; I'll find out in a week or so if they're telling porkies or not!!
thanks though,
