Lexmark Printer Problem
      #440336 - Sun Oct 18 2009 12:23 AM

I was wondering if there is anybody that could help me with this?. When I first got the printer, for the first couple of months, all was fine.

Now, every time I go to print anything, it will only go up to 15% and stops there. It usually informs me there is a paper jam, although I have checked it properly, and I know there isn't.

I have uninstalled it, reinstalled it, installed another driver from the Lexmark website, swore at it, turned it off and on (frequently), all to no avail.

I swore after the last Lexmark I had, because of the ridiculous cost of the ink cartridges, I would never get another one, but this new one, in a shop window, was half price, and I fell for it....again!.

Any help would be gratefully recieved

Hi,

from what you describe it sounds like a hardware problem and not a software one, I would therefore suggest that you dig out your receipt and take the printer back and never, ever, ever even look at a Lexmark again (no matter how cheap it is).

If like me you print text documents almost exclusively you might be better off with a laser printer, but if you print of pictures/photo's as well then be prepared to do some serious research as at lot of printers are bieng sold cheaply these days, but then they hit you in the pocket hard when the barely filled ink cartridges need replacing.

Ray

I appreciate what you state but I was plagued with my Epson spent a fortune on refills etc., including cheapies, but mostly genuine. I then bought a Lexmark X2670 which must be as basic as you can get and has no add ons. This does enough for me and does not run away with ink, (maybe in the future), so I am very pleased with my cheap purchase. I still do not think that any printer is better than the other, I think manufacturers are all at it and we are the 'mugs' as end users
If you read my post one down from yours, perhaps you could help with a driver download.

Thanks very much for the replies, sorry I have not replied before now.

I will give both the suggestions a go, but have tried a driver download already, and it's not made any difference whatsover.

Will let you know how I get on, and thanks again

None of this worked, so now I think it's time to get onto Lexmark, thanks for your help anyway, very nice of you!
