As if I hadn't got enough probs with my stepson's Dell (with non working Vista), my Tosh Equium with Vista Home Premium has today reverted to the settings it had approx 3 years ago! Here's the story - Used the comp this morning - read emails - shut down (properly) - went to work. Came home tonight - turned comp on only to find massive desktop icons and a desktop picture that I used to use about 3 years ago! Even more strange I used to use Yahoo messenger but it messed Vista up so I stopped it loading at startup - once again about 3 years ago. It has now loaded itself again and signed in. Similarly I used to have a sign-on name with MSN but that got infected and used to send out spurious messages. I set up a new name and haven't used the old one in about 3 years - yet it has loaded up in that name and signed in! I had set Vista to run in XP mode (can't recall exactly what it was called it was so long ago now), but that's all gone as well. Also there are icons in the tray that I removed years ago. I ran System Restore (to 14/10/2009 when Windows updated) and it said it had successfully done so - but it hasn't. The resolution has changed to small icons but that's all. XP mode is still gone and both Yahoo and MSN have loaded and signed in again in the old names. Strangely Google Chrome is gone too (which I loaded just after it came out many many months ago). What is going on? Have I got a virus or has Windows Update messed up?

Further to my previous message - I undid the Sysem Restore because it didn't help and the comp is now back to normal! Even Google Chrome with its full history is back. Case closed i think.
