Misleading ebay ads
      #440216 - Thu Oct 15 2009 08:55 PM

Dispite numerous requests to ebay they will not tell a seller to change a misleading ad. I purchased a motorcycle horn, or I thought I was purchasing a motorcycle horn, what I actually got was a car horn. E bay won't ask the seller to change the ad because the seller is a big user of ebay. Its the poor sods like me tho that have to put up wih it. Disgusting!

Which is why you, as a buyer, can leave neutral or negative feedback AND leave 1 to 5 rating on the DSRs. (There is a specific one for ITEM AS DESCRIBED). However, there are things you do before doing that or posting your concerns on a forum.

You don't say if you have contacted the seller first or what the listing actually states. Your first action should be to contact the seller, tell them you are unhappy and if they are a business seller they HAVE to allow you to return the item for a refund. That is not just your legal right but eBay do have a 14 day return policy imposed on business sellers (we have had items sent back 'because I changed my mind').

With the listing, have you checked the whole listing to see what it states? I had one buyer bitterly complain to me about the item we sent not matching the description and it turned out she read the title, price and that was it. She therefore failed to see the detailed description, the photograph.............

Also in contacting eBay you have to follow the correct route and file the complaint through their 'form' which you can find via CONTACT US then Report a Questionable Listing.

To suggest eBay will not act towards a 'big' seller is incorrect. I see many that break the rules (be it not displaying a business address or other breaches of the rules) and they WILL act if you report it correctly and accurately.
