Help Please - Windows 7 Problems...
      #440201 - Thu Oct 15 2009 07:06 PM

I got a free pack from Microsoft the other day - a windows 7 party pack - google it if you don't believe me! Anyway, since downloading this windows 7 ultimate edition, I have had problems with my touchpad mainly! I do like the OS and have since gotten rid of my old Windows Vista...although there isn't such a great jump as everyone bangs on about... My touchpad is way too sensitive when you go to scroll along the side of it. I have tried to download a driver from Synoptics - didnt work. Tried to change settings in control panel - no settings for it. I know you can change the amount of lines one scroll notch goes, but how can you change where the touchpad thinks you are trying to scroll when you are really trying to navigate with the mouse?

Hi,

might I ask if you ran the windows 7 compatability checker before you installed windows 7.

Also, as windows 7 has yet to be officially released, it is highly unlikely that windows 7 drivers are available.

Oh, and one more thing, it's not always possible for anyone to get a response to any request for help within a few hours of posting, sometimes it can take a couple of days for the right person, with the right knowledge to login and offer thier assitance.

Ray

When drivers are not available or don’t apparently work, I always try those from the previous edition of Windows.

So, put the older driver installation file on the Desktop, right-click it and select Properties > Compatibility Tab. Now choose to run the program in Windows Vista compatibility mode (or rarely, right back to Win95), then Apply > OK. Right-click the file and select the Run As Administrator option to install it.
