Vista seems to be installed twice on my PC. When I start up from the black screen, Windows Vista is listed twice, both exactly the same, one underneath each other in the list. Do I need to remove one and how do I do that. I have recently carried out a "clean" re-install of Vista. Any help appreciated. Thank you.

This is a two-pronged operation, remove the unwanted installation entry in bootmgr then delete the old installation.
Although it can be done from within Vista, I suggest you download the free EasyBCD, scroll down here http://neosmart.net/dl.php?id=1 and get the instructions here http://neosmart.net/wiki/display/EBCD/EasyBCD+Documentation+Home
To ensure you keep the correct version, boot to the one you want, run EBCD, go to the Add/Remove Entries Tab and delete the unwanted entry. Reboot to make sure the correct entry has been removed (this can be rectified if it‘s wrong). Then you can delete the unwanted installation folders/files, which cannot be rectified.
