Hi guys,
I'm planning on putting windows 7 on my pc when I get my disk in a couple of weeks and I was wondering, apart from making a separate partition for windows 7 and telling it to install there, is there anything special I need to do or be aware of as I want to keep vista for a while.
Thanks in advance for you advice

I hope you don’t get involved in a duel when you dual boot, he he!
1. Use Vista’s Shrink command to free up space for the new partition. 2. Bootmgr is the name of the file that manages booting in Vista and Windows 7 and it will reside on your Vista partition. After Windows 7 is installed, it will be updated to include it but Vista may apparently ‘disappear’ in Computer. If this happens, go to the Windows Orb (Start), type diskmgmt.msc and press Enter, then right-click on the drive that is 'hidden' or ‘unallocated‘ > Change Drive Letter/Paths... > select an unused letter > OK and the disk should now show in Computer. 3. The Windows program that handles multiple booting is named BCDEDIT but it is a little unwieldy so I suggest you download EasyBCD, scroll down to the link here http://neosmart.net/dl.php?id=1 and get the instructions here http://neosmart.net/wiki/display/EBCD/EasyBCD+Documentation+Home Install it on Vista (and W7) and familiarise yourself with it.
Good luck.

You’ve probably done this, but in case you haven't, I forgot to mention checking if your computer will run Windows 7, download the upgrade advisor http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/upgrade-advisor.aspx

Hi,
I passed the test, apart from my network card, my printer and most puzzling of all Openoffice, but I think the last one is just a scare tactic from MS to get me to buy thier software lol.
As to the printer, I'll see if Canon have put up windows 7 drivers once the O/S is released and I can always use the onboard network card or buy a newer one.
