Microsoft Patch Tuesday for October 2009: 13 bulletins Microsoft will patch 13 vulnerabilities this Tuesday. Eight are rated as "Critical" and the other five are marked "Important."
Quote:
"For October we are releasing 13 bulletins (eight 'critical' and five 'important'), addressing 34 vulnerabilities affecting Windows, IE, Office, Silverlight, Forefront, Developer Tools and SQL Server. Most of these updates require a restart, so please factor that into your deployment planning," said Microsoft in an October 2009 Bulletin Release Advance Notification.
On another article they say this is going to be the Biggest ever issue of Updates and whats quoted on the links below is only provisional.
PS They are even throwing in a Patch for the RTM version of Windows 7

For you Madeline it is the downloads but for me it's always the joy of checking that everything that was working before is still working OK afterwards!

Your right there Wanderer. It`s not the actual download that bothers me , but the installation process. Waiting for the restart to complete is always a bit nerve racking.
btw - I got 11 updates. While on the subject , I do like the new update UI and how it gives a lot more details about each one.

Actually, it's not really that especially just after getting quite a big Adobe Reader update. It slows things down a bit and I don't like that little yellow shield in the Notification Area at all! What really annoys me is that I forget about them and a lot of the time they want to install the updates when I want to shut the PC down. If I was to leave them then, it would want to do them on the next start up.
These days, I'm not too bothered by large updates as I can often use my download manager and I set them going when I've got stuff to do elsewhere.

It could be worse I suppose, but not much! I haven't had any yet, so I'll just have to contain my excitement!

Pleasantly trouble free ...so far.
I left it downloading and went and did the washing up. I came back and it was on the 13th update and all I had to do was restart the machine.

I got them yesterday - 12, including the Malicious Software Removal Tool. No problems as far as I can tell.
At least that little yellow shield's gone now!
